About Me

My name is Nina Alexandra Tsocanos (most people call me "Alex" but I have many loving nicknames).

I am a Certified Nutrition Consultant, NANP Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition® (Candidate), Certified Level 2 Herbalist, health coach and educator. I am passionate about helping people take charge of their journey to health and wellness.

For most of my life I’ve had a passion for reproductive and sexual health especially in a public health context. I was a peer health educator in high school and college; I interned with midwives in Upstate New York; and worked with Save The Children International reporting on sexual health education programs in Malawi. After college, I trained as a doula with DONA International in Brooklyn, NY.  In my career as an artist, I’ve designed health education materials and workshops on reproductive health and self-empowerment.

My own health journey led me beyond allopathic medicine--which focused on treating my symptoms--to more integrative and holistic modalities to find the root cause of my health issues and focus on a whole body approach to healing. I studied herbalism with Mary Blue at Farmacy Herbs in Providence, RI and Holistic Nutrition Consulting at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA where, I graduated with honors and a special focus on hormonal health and fertility. Now, I am Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition® (Candidate) with the National Association for Nutrition Professionals (NANP) offering one-on-one health coaching and group classes.

Whether my clients seek me out for a particular health challenge, or to optimize their general health, we work together to understand the bigger picture and create a plan that supports their whole body, mind and spirit.
